Tulare Co. Fair Kicks Off With Cooking Competition September 6th

For the first time, the Tulare County Fair will kick off with a rodeo – a fundraiser for the Tulare County Fair Foundation – to be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6. Gates open at 5 p.m.

Tickets are available online at www.tcfair.org for $10 per person if purchased before the event date or $15 per person at the gate. VIP passes are available for $65 per person, which includes preferred seating, refreshments and dinner.

The sanctioned California Cowboy Professional Rodeo Association event includes top California professional cowboys. It will feature eight events plus a “Locals Only” event with a $1,000 purse for the winning team. Events include team roping, breakaway roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, saddle bronc riding and bareback riding.

A dance begins immediately after the rodeo featuring local country-western band Midnight Wine. Rodeo admission is required.

Castle Air Museum Open Cockpit Day, August 31st

On August 31st, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Castle Air Museum located at 5050 Santa Fe Dr., in Atwater will be celebrating Open Cockpit Day. This year, as in the past, the most popular aspect of the Day will be the opening of many of the 58 aircraft which are on display at the Museum. Among those that will be open are the B-29, B-17, SR-71, B-52, KC-135, F-15, and an F-14 Tomcat of “Top Gun” fame. The Museum is world renowned, and since its beginning in 1979, has been recognized for the wonderful collection of restored military aircraft.

Tulare Fair Foundation Fundraiser Cattle Drive August 19 & 26

The Tulare County Fair Foundation is asking for donations of dairy cows or beef animals for a Cattle Drive to raise funds for the renovation of the Youth Livestock Show Pavilion.

The animals will be auctioned off at 8 a.m. at the Tulare Sales Yard on Aug. 19 and Aug. 26. To arrange pickup of the donated animals, call Rick Faria, 905-5811.

Cash donations will also be accepted. Checks should be made payable to the non-profit Tulare County Fair Foundation. Donors will be recognized with signage at the Pavilion, during the fair (Sept. 10-14), and on the web site, www.tcfair.org.

Annual Autumn BBQ Fundraiser September 21st

The Tulare County Historical Society Presents the Annual Autumn BBQ Fundraiser on Sunday, September 21st. The event takes place 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Tulare County Museum at Mooney Grove Park, located at 27000 S. Mooney Blvd in Visalia. Proceeds will benefit the Main Street exhibit currently undergoing renovation. Dinner will be tri-tip and chicken and after dinner, you will be entertained by Tulare County's own Earl McKee and the Three Riversmen. 3rd Annual iCAN TRI Youth Triathlon July 20th

The 3rd annual "iCAN TRI Youth triathlon" scheduled for Sunday, July 20th, 2014 will return to the Clovis North Educational Center.  The youth triathlon division will be open to youth ages 6-19.  This race is part of USAT Southwest Region Talent ID Series, a non-drafting race for youth ages 13-19 and the F1 Elite Race Series, a draft legal race for youth ages 12-15 and 16-18.  We are proud to host the USAT Southwest Region Youth Championship again. This is an outstanding venue with challenging courses for each age division. The swim complex has (2) 50 meter pools for short and long course swimming. The bike and run courses of varying distances will challenge each athlete of the (4) Youth Divisions and Elite Division. Finisher metals will be given to each participant crossing the finish line.
